When business professionals talk about marketing venues, the usual venues of print, televisions, and the Internet usually spring to mind immediately. What is widely used as a method is advertising in films. People are very serious about movies, and often they watch them in times when they can no longer deal with reality. It becomes a sort of mini-break. They escape into them. When a product is seen repeatedly in a movie, it is a big deal.
On its own, a black helmet is nothing to write home about. After black helmets are seen being used in a new action movie, the story is very different. All of a sudden an industry is turned upside down with demand of the items. While the focus may be on a single brand, the increase will happen across the board.
Sometimes, all the marketing department wants to hear is that there is an increase in brand name recognition. One way to get that is for the main character to be very specific about their ski helmet, and make sure that it is somehow ongoing throughout the story. The audience does not have to be conscious of the information download that is going on, they just have to act on the new information.
People that want to be more like their heroes on the big screen often start to try and dress alike. This is where the digital sport watch can make a huge come back if seen in a film. Audiences notice subtle things, even if they do not mean to.
To get a brand name to be visible in movies, the manufacturer or business needs to become a sponsor of the movie. The more money paid as a sponsor means the more often the brand name is visible. Something as insignificant as breakfast cereal could be seen all the way through a movie. That company paid a lot of money for that. Though it is a safe bet that they will recoup every penny.
Did you ever notice that in some movies the cars that you see are all of the same make? Cars are a big item, and the companies that make them pay big money to get them noticed in a movie. Action films are great from showing off what a car is able to do.
While advertising in movies is very expensive, it is also worth every cent spent on it. It can be considered a success even if all it does is build up buzz about a product. Being noticed means everything, and on a big screen you are bound to be noticed.
