Research has shown that using the Internet is one of the best ways to communicate with customers/prospects. Therefore, email is a variabel marketing tool. There are loads of benefits a business can derive through an active email marketing campaign. Email can work like a lot of other online marketing gambits in producing some fabulous results as well as a healthy return on your investment on a long term basis. However, the flip side is the possibility of large losses if it’s not done correctly. The following outlines some email marketing tips to allow your email marketing campaign to enjoy the success that your business deserves, using proper management.

The first and foremost thing is to make sure that the subject line you choose should be catchy and eye grabbing. First impressions are very important, since you have a relatively short amount of time to capture the attention of the reader. If you fail to get their attention, your email will either get ignored or deleted. You need to fill your subject line with words that show the benefits of the email and makes the recipient curious enough to open the email. For instance, rather than “Diet Tips”, you might have “6 Diet Tips to Make you Look Sexier”. This is a much better and eye-grabbing title. It’s important to include some relevant and interesting information at the very beginning of your mail. You may ask why. The most common email clients, like Yahoo, Microsoft Outlook, etc., feature something called a “preview pane,” where the user views your mail. In addition, you need your efforts to remain consistent throughout your email marketing campaigns. Make sure that your email is sent at a regularly scheduled time, such as weekly, or perhaps even bi-weekly. If for example, you choose to send out your newsletter each week on Tuesdays at 2 pm, be sure to continue that schedule. You email subscribers will come to expect your email to arrive at a certain time, and you should respect that. Your promptness is a sign of your attention to your business, and will dispose your readers to be more open to your offers. In addition to showing them you are dedicated, it shows them that you are professional and respect your subscribers.

You also need to make sure that your emails are delivered to the recipients, and not dumped in the junk folder. That’s why its so important to make sure your subject line does not look like spam. Spam filters target certain words so if you have those or similiar words in the subject line of your e-mail, it will automatically go into the trash bin. Examples of words to avoid include ‘Earn Money Now’ or ‘Free.’ To learn what other words will trigger the spam filter, just do a Google search and you’ll find that there are many sites that keep lists. Many of these sites will also give you a “spam score” to help you decide if your email will get trashed. The body of the email should also be checked for trigger words, just like the subject line. When it comes to your email content, there are other concerns too. You need to be careful of the links you include. That means that domains that are promoted alot will most likely go to the spam folder. When spam filters get triggered by domains, they stop the mail from being delivered. A way to work around this is to use another domain to mask your links so they don’t trigger the filters. To build a successful campaign, you need to spend time working on each critical piece. Who you send your email to and how you send your email and everything in between, all determine if your email marketing campaign strategy will work. Therefore, focus on the best practices and take care that all the important factors are in place and in turn your campaign should be very successful.
